Around half of small firms do not expect to

crisis. This is according to the latest research
from the FSB, which has revealed that manufacturing
firms, and wholesale and retail firms are the
least optimistic. This was due to an increase
in operating costs, supply chain disruption,
labour shortages and a fall in consumer spending.
The most optimistic are information and communication
firms, which have quickly adapted to hybrid
working, and firms in the accommodation and
food sector, which have benefitted from relaxed
travel rules.
