By
way of explanation. The
term 'home business' consists of two words.
'Business' is the second one; it's there to
qualify and support the word 'home' and all
that goes with it - and not vice versa. Consequently,
we also list below, items which are of interest
and value to the home. Whether in its context
as an office or as a part of your family and
lifestyle but always
directed at the improved prospects and enjoyment
that running a business from home, in its entirety,
can bring.

overview of
starting and running a
business from home,

Brexit deal means £70bn hit to UK
by 2029'.
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-50219036
Are Brexit Wasters and their serial-lying,
fake news propaganda going to make a contribution
to these gigantic losses? Which are only estimates
at the moment, obviously.

Energy

Sounds like still more utility company scams

of relic meters but relic, Borstal-style energy
company management which needs changing.

Online retail sales continue to struggle. https://www.imrg.org/media-and-comment/press-releases/september-shows-no-sign-of-respite-for-online-retailers-as-sales-continue-to-slump-pr/
Year-on-year
online retail sales grew by just 0.6% in September,
according to the latest IMRG Capgemini Online
Retail Index. The index reveals that the gift
sector was the worst-performing with online
sales falling by 18% in September 2019. Online
sales of electricals and clothing also fell,
by 15% and 1.2% respectively, with sales of
menswear falling by 22%. The best-performing
sectors were health and beauty, which grew by
16%, and beer, wine and spirits, which grew
by 15%. IMRG attributes the figures to low consumer
confidence and warmer weather in early September.

It's not just Brexit but under Torygeddon,
Britain has started to display many of the trends
which were apparent in Nazi Germany during the
1930s. But there is also a flip side. Many ex-pats
who went in search of a lifestyle retirement,
particularly in Spain and France, have found
the value of their pensions much reduced and
nothing but uncertainty on the horizon. Finding
themselves no longer able to afford to live
abroad, significantly greater numbers than those
emigrating will be returning to Britain to place
an not-inconsiderable additonal burden on the
country's already creaking economy, as they
try to find their feet again.

If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, the

that conventional support would not provide

a no-deal Brexit. For example importers and
exporters do not know or understand how a no-deal
Brexit would affect them so are unable to seek
the support they require. The report also highlights
that during the financial crisis Government
help was provided via funds such as the Enterprise

a no-deal Brexit will cost billions and couldn't

In the run up to October 31, exports to

those to the bloc, driven in large part by major
non-EU trading partners including the USA and
China, with total trade with the USA surpassing
£200 billion for the first time.
That
is hardly surprising given the dramatic slump

Prince
Harry launches phone-hacking case against Sun
and Mirror owners. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/oct/04/prince-harry-begins-legal-proceedings-against-sun-and-mirror-meghan
Although the tabloid scum's phone-hacking
saga has been rattling around in the independent
press for a couple of decades, it is astonishing
that until now, no-one has stepped up to the
mark to do something about it. Whereas the priority
remains for the tabloids to be tried for war
crime propaganda in a present-day, Nuremberg-style
courtroom, it is often forgotten that their
endless hate-preaching, victimisation, lies,
fake news and disinformation has also cost the
UK's business community and international reputation
dearly. We - and the vast majority of businesses
and decent individuals out there - wish Harry
and Meghan every success in finally bringing
at least some justice and accountability to
this cesspit.

to make an online purchase if they were required
to complete a multi-step authentication process,
according to research by fraud prevention software
provider Forter. The 'stronger customer authentication'
(SCA) system was due to come into force on 14
September 2019, but the Financial Conduct Authority
agreed an 18-month extension to allow online
retailers and card issuers more time to prepare.
Under SCA, an online purchase must be verified
using a password and verification code or fingerprint.
However, the research has indicated that 54%
of consumers would abandon an online purchase
if they were asked to verify it with a fingerprint.

Major gaps in official no-deal Brexit guidance.
https://www.britishchambers.org.uk/news/2019/09/bcc-study-shows-major-gaps-in-official-brexit-guidance-for-businesses-in-the-event-of-no-deal-2
A
study by the British Chambers of Commerce has
revealed that there are significant gaps in
official Brexit guidance for businesses. The
study identifies 36 key areas where businesses
need official guidance to prepare for a no-deal
Brexit. However, current Government guidance
is insufficient or incomplete for 31 of the
36 key areas identified, which means that businesses
do not have access to the information they need
to plan for the impact of the UK leaving the
EU without a deal.
Firms
with EU suppliers face higher costs post-Brexit.
https://www.cips.org/en/knowledge/procurement-topics-and-skills/brexit1/brexit-surveys/
Almost 40% of UK businesses with suppliers in
the EU have signed Brexit clauses that would
allow prices and other terms to be renegotiated
in the event of a no-deal Brexit, according
to a survey by the Chartered Institute of Procurement
and Supply. The survey has revealed that suppliers
in the EU are taking steps to protect their
business from the impact of any tariffs that
might apply after the UK leaves the EU. As a
result, many UK businesses could face higher
costs after a no-deal Brexit, which would be
particularly challenging for smaller firms with
less cash reserves and lower profit margins.
