By way of explanation. The term 'home business' consists of two words. 'Business' is the second one; it's there to qualify and support the word 'home' and all that goes with it - and not vice versa. Consequently, we also list below, items which are of interest and value to the home. Whether in its context as an office or as a part of your family and lifestyle but always directed at the improved prospects and enjoyment that running a business from home, in its entirety, can bring.

For a current, multi-part overview of starting and running a business from home, go here: http://www.homebusiness.org.uk/features.htm

31.10.2016: New wave of 'prefabs' to sprout up across Britain. http://www.aol.co.uk/news/2016/10/29/new-wave-of-prefabs-to-sprout-up-across-britain/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D-1190617849_uk My father (and many like him) began his property business in the early 1960s buying up asbestos prefabs which had been built just after the Second World War to provide a rapid housing solution for soldiers coming home from the war. In those days, a generous garden included, these properties could be snapped up for cash at £500 a pop (neither loans nor mortgages being available for asbestos-built homes) and subsequently rented out for £3 a week. All eminently affordable - even if lining the asbestos walls inside and out with block and brickwork, re-wiring and additional plumbing was an almost immediate and fairly costly must-do, allowing nonetheless, local grafters to at least double their capital investment as a result.

I wonder what the proposed 'new wave of prefabs' is going to cost? And how many opportunities for the homeless, the needy and the grafters they will provide?

Scamwatch: recruitment fraud warning. http://money.aol.co.uk/2016/10/30/scamwatch-recruitment-fraud-warning/ 'BBC investigation uncovers massive employment scam.' Hardly. Nothing new here at all. Perhaps someone should take a closer look at the BBC's own activities ranging from its support and propaganda for international terrorism through to its unquestioning coverage of corrupt, cheating, doped-up national sports such as professional football, the Olympics, tennis and even American fairy sports such as catch, netball and rounders.

The figures have revealed that small firms accounted for 99.3% of all private sector businesses and were responsible for 48% of all private sector employment in the UK. The figures also indicate that 76% of firms do not employ anyone except the owner. Overall, the number of private sector businesses increased by 59% between 2000 and 2016, with non-employing firms accounting for 89% of this increase. (EnterpriseQuest)

UK SMEs owed more than £586 billion in outstanding invoices. http://www.bmmagazine.co.uk/news/uk-smes-owed-586-billion-invoices/ Now let's guess how many late-payers are crooked Tory spivs with knighthoods. Whereas Little Ingerlandt's Nazi tabloid propaganda makes a meal of the country's relationship with the EU, it conveniently forgets to mention every little detail of Little Ingerlandt's servitude to North America the past forty years! (Nothing to do with the fact that most of the country's hate-preaching tabloid interests are 'offshore' and/or American economic migrants, for sure, for sure.)

Inquiry into impact of Brexit on service sectors. http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/lords-select/
The House of Lords EU Internal Market Sub-Committee has launched an inquiry to identify the terms of market access that key service sectors in the UK would like to have with the EU following Brexit. The inquiry will investigate the challenges and opportunities that exiting the EU will raise for different service sectors; the impact of leaving the EU and trading on World Trade Organisation terms; whether leaving the EU but remaining a member of the European Economic Area will retain present levels of market access; and what the Government's key negotiating objectives should be for service sectors in the UK. Government export support campaign failing. http://economia.icaew.com/news/october-2016/government-efforts-to-boost-exports-are-failing-says-icaew Almost seven in ten (69%) business owners have never exported and have no plans to do so in future, according to the results of a survey by the ICAEW. One in ten of the firms surveyed were already exporters and 73% of them had been exporting for more than 10 years. The research revealed that two thirds of business owners had not heard of UKTI (which is now the Department for International Trade). Of those survey respondents who had heard of UKTI, 87% said they do not currently use any of its support services. ICAEW argues that the figures indicate that the Government's campaign to grow UK exports to £1 trillion by 2020 is failing. (EnterpriseQuest)
